Thinking about deer, a thought may come in your mind concerning what does a deer eat? What are they fond of eating more and more? This makes you search out well regarding eating habits of deer. As a matter of fact, it depends on the type of deer. If you know the type of deer, you can easily find out what do deer eat?

Since, they are known as herbivorous, it is quite obvious that they must be eating plants, various kinds of herbs and fruits as their main diet. In case, they find no such things, they can survive by eating grass and other green plants as well. They also like to have leaves from different trees or bushes in their diet. As per all my study on deer, I have found them very humble and flexible creature that knows very well how to fill their tummies with anything that can give them energy.

Tough they eat plants and leaves but their top most priority is the fruit that has fallen from the tree. They also love to eat wild flowers and many other non-woody plants. Besides fruits deer like to have nutritious vegetables as well, namely, soybeans, beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and so on. The grown grasses are also one of the favorite things to eat for the deer. So, deer like to have combination of all such things.

Unlike other deer, the white-tailed deer are not fond of eating grass. They rather like to have plants such as alfalfa or clover. Since these plants are mostly found under tall grasses, it seems as if deer are eating grass. However, deer are attracted towards the plants grown in the taller grasses. These white-tailed deer also like to have wild flowers in their diet. Moreover when winter approaches and the trees drop some nuts and acorns on the ground, these white-tailed deer jut love to eat this kind of food stuff. White oak acorns are one of the favorite things that deer like to have all the time. Though all kinds of deer are fond of nuts and acorns but white-tailed deer are just crazy about white oak acorns. They also like to eat other types of oaks as well such as red oak, water oak, pin oak, live oak, and so on. Acorns mostly drop when the winter season is ready to arrive, so if you are going to visit the place where acorns drop and also want to see deer, you must prepare yourself with some warm clothes and dry fruits as well.

All sorts of deer usually love to eat garden vegetables as well, such as, cabbage, sugar beet, squash, and so on. These deer are also very fond of eating corn. You must find deer in or around corn fields enjoying it as if they would never find it again. They just love to eat it and, that is why, you would have seen that the deer with the heaviest body weight are from the countries where corn is in abundance. They are so crazy about this kind of food stuff that if you allow them, they are capable of eating it throughout the day without getting bored or tired.

Another good thing that attracts a large number of deer towards it is soybeans. The farmers who crop soybeans possess a great amount of envy for deer. They think of them as pests and try to save their fields from deer as much as possible. Since they love to eat soybeans, they always find a way to the soybeans field and cause lots of difficulties for the farmers. Sometimes, when deer eat all of the harvested soybeans it leads to a huge monetary loss for the farmers.

Coming to the fruits, all types of deer, especially, the white-tailed ones are fond of eating different kinds of fruits such as peers, apples, plums and so on. They just love the sweetness of all these fruits and always wait for the season in which these fruits fall from the trees. Their love towards fruits makes the owner of the fruits orchard really tensed and you always find them exploring some ways to save their orchards from deer.

In short, deer are very cute creatures that love to eat almost everything that gives them energy and keeps them healthy.
