Siberian tiger and Bengal tiger are both sub-species of Panthera tigris. Both of these cats are among the most beautiful organisms found in nature. They are also among the most powerful and formidable creatures. It is, therefore, hard to decide the winner of a Siberian tiger versus Bengal tiger match. There are, however, many differences between these two sub species. Let's take a look at these interesting differences. It might, then, be easy to conclude who wins in the Siberian tiger vs Bengal tiger competition.

Physical Appearance

At the very first glance, you might be deceived, thinking that both the tigers belong to the same sub-species. However, look closely to discover the slight difference between the physical appearances of both these creatures.

A Siberian tiger is the biggest of all sub-species of Panthera tigris. In fact, it is the largest and the heaviest member of the entire cat family. With a body length varying between ten and twelve feet and the maximum weight of more than six hundred pounds, a Siberian tiger beats its smaller counterpart.

The coats of Siberian tigers are thick and pale golden. Black stripes adorn these coats while their underbellies are white. A Bengal tiger is also a beautiful cat but with different physical traits. It possesses a comparatively thinner coat which is pale yellow in color. They also have black stripes on their bodies.

The difference in their physical appearance is merely because of the difference in their genes. A mutant gene led to the sub-species known as the Bengal tiger.

If it's a competition of beauty, both organisms would win since both of them are unique animals with stunningly beautiful coats.

Where are they found?

It is sometimes hard to differentiate between a Bengal tiger and a Siberian tiger if physical traits are all you have. Mostly, their location is what makes it easy to determine which of the sub-species is a Siberian tiger and which of them is a Bengal tiger. The latter are natives of Bangladesh, India as well as Burma. On the other hand, Siberian tigers are found in China, Russia and Korea. However, due to overhunting, they have been reduced in number and can only be found in Southeastern Russia now.

What climate do they prefer?

Although both of these animals are closely related, their climate preferences are completely opposite from each other. A Bengal tiger lives happily in the hot climate of India and Bangladesh. On the other hand, the snowy regions of Russia, China and Korea are house to the Siberian tiger. Its white underbelly looks like the snow it treads on.

This difference accounts for the difference in their physical appearance to a large extent. The thick coat of Siberian tigers protects them from the chilly surroundings. Similarly, they have a thick layer of fat under the skin which works as an insulator. This layer of fat explains their heavy weight.

On the other hand, a Bengal tiger lacks this layer of fat. Moreover, it does not need a thick coat as it lives in a hot climate.

The Face Off

Although both the cats possess almost the same features and behavioral patterns, a Siberian tiger wins due to its larger size and weight. This bulky creature can easily dominate a Bengal tiger. Therefore, the world's biggest cat wins against the beautiful cat of Bengal.
