Irish wolfhound is the tallest dog in the world. It is also one of the biggest dogs on earth. This breed is famous for its purpose of hunting wolves (as clear from their name). As they have strong and well built body so they are lighting fast and quick in their movement. This tallest dog breed in the world reaches the shoulder height of about 34 inches at maximum but the average height is about 32 inches. Found in the Ireland initially, this dog species is now found on American and European lands as well.
Irish wolfhound are the giant dogs which have strong muscular body. Normally, the dogs from this family have coat on their body. They can be found in Gray, Pure White, Fawn, Red, Brindle and Steel Gray colors. Their coat is rough and hard, especially wiry and long over eyes and under jaw. Their eyes look dark whereas they have long tails which are slightly curved. They are the heaviest looking dogs whose presence can be dated back to Romans period. They can move swiftly to catch their prey and they are famous for their quickness. The strong feet and smartly curved body help them to move fast while running.
